I have witnessed the amazing growth of the massage profession since the 1980s when I enrolled in the Swedish Institute.
For example, at that time, New York State did not allow professionals to use the terms “Massage Therapy” or “Massage Therapist”. I remember many people, probably most, who did so anyway.
I would not because I respected the law. Work was being done to make this happen; lobbyists in Albany were working so hard for the advancement of the profession. Insurance companies were on the initial cusp to entertain coverage for treatments as well, although these companies were the minority—the exceptions. And it all worked out in the long run and things are continually looking up!
With decades of knowledge in the profession’s background and with my skills set, I still continue to study and learn, aiming to be my best for my clients!
